Physician Resources

Resources for physicians were gathered this semester to help them implement reading promotion practices in their clinics. The resources are included on the AAP Idaho website for physicians to reference at their convenience.

REACH OUT AND READ

Reach Out and Read is a program for physician offices that provides a free book to children between 6mo and 5 years at each well-child checkup.

LITTLE FREE LIBRARY

Little Free Library is a great resource for a "take a book, leave a book" format for providing books in practices. There is room for creativity in building the libraries and it is cheaper than other programs.

DOLLY PARTON'S IMAGINATION LIBRARY

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library sends a free book each month to any children enrolled in the program. The cost of the books is covered by a local champion, who secures funding for the program. There is no cost to the families.

BRUSH, BOOK, BED

Brush, Book, Bed is an American Academy of Pediatrics initiative that stresses the importance of brushing teeth, reading a book, and going to bed every night for families.
